A farm stay would have, at one time, meant basic accommodations, getting your hands into soil, simple fare and most common. Today farm stays are exclusive, eco-friendly and one that offers all amenities in nature, with healthy organic food, a more intimate experience, and of course, all that fresh country air, green land and blue skies. This simple country house has been a favourite destination for artist, researchers, runners & old visitors of Ladakh since 1993. Goba farm stay and guest house is surrounded on one side by small mountains and others by wheat & barley fields, vegetables, flowers and the tall poplar trees. With less number of guest rooms, so each guest could enjoy the space peacefully in the gardens on both sides of the building and Shanti-Stupa at a walking distance from the property. The property’s commitment of peaceful nature experience & hospitality hasn't changed at all since 1994 (when it was regd.) Comfort Meals for breakfast & dinner are cooked with most ingredients produced during the summer on the land itself, including house-made apricot jam, whole-wheat local bread (khambir), milk, mint & camomile tea, house made apple & apricot juice, all greens & some vegetables, even the kidney beans and edible flowers which allows you to truly taste the air and earth in every bite since they are all grown in the family garden. One could say the entire land is its pantry. The Goba family (also called Goba Skalzang) before 1983 resided for almost 2 centuries in, ‘The Old Ancestral House’ near Changspa Bridge. The family raised their children there and farmed in this land. In the year 1983, they built this house amidst the fields to stay closer to their produce where the current generation were born & raised. In 1993 two Swiss ladies stayed with the family and in 1994 registered into a guest house and finally in1996, the new guest house building was constructed. Needless to say, why. We have single, double, double attached bathrooms and a family room with attached bathroom. At the guest house, some elements scream farm stay—fields, trees, garden and cow shed.—but the rooms feel fresh and modern thanks to a white colour scheme. Still family-owned, today Goba operates this guest accommodations with a small restaurant, G-Kitchen, gourmet restaurant (located just down the Changspa road) and local craft classes at the old ancestral house. Guest can enjoy a minimal peaceful sublime experience at Goba. Jullay!
